When you see a Landscape Solutions alternatively-fueled fleet vehicle in central Indiana, or one of our uniformed lawn and landscape technicians operating a propane-fueled mower in the greater Indianapolis area, we hope our commitment to environmental responsibility is the first thing that comes to your mind. We are proud of the cutting edge technology we incorporate in the landscape and snow removal services we provide and we take every opportunity to share our ideas and knowledge with others. To positively impact our environment, we need as many people and organizations to join us in our unyielding commitment to reducing the negative impacte on the air, soil, and water around us. We are always looking for additional ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Environmental Conservation in the Office

As a lawn and landscape company, most of the services we provide are outside of our offices in Noblesville, Indiana. Our work is done at office buildings, residential homes, and common areas of neighborhoods. BUT, behind our team of well-trained and hard-working people in the field is an office staff who provides support to our team and excellent service to our clients.

In our office, just like any office, we use supplies like paper, printer ink, and so on. We recognized this as another area in which we had the opportunity to commit to reducing waste. Here are a few ways we have committed to lessening our negative impact on the environment in our office — ideas you can incorporate in your workplace as well! Together, we can compound our efforts.

Conserve Paper with Electronic Statements

Over 70% our clients receive electronic statements and invoices, reducing the use of paper, printer ink, and even the resources utilized to mail paper invoices! Clients and homeowners appreciate having less paper to shuffle and the convenience of finding statements in their email inbox.

Whenever you have the option of receiving electronic statements, take it! Every little bit contributes to the green initiative.

Reduce Paper and Printing Waste

At Landscape Solutions, “green” isn’t just a catchphrase or a fad — it’s a culture and a commitment that is embraced by every one of our team members. Our office staff avoids printing emails, invoices, inter-office communications, etc, as much as possible. Think before you print!

And instead of just throwing waste paper in the recycle bin (or worse yet — the trash can!), consider if you might use it for scratch paper or notes. Think about the number of post-it notes that are passed around and wasted in a typical office. Reusing scrap paper for scratch and notes can significantly reduce the amount of wasted paper.

Encourage Environmental Responsibility in the Break Room

In your office break room, are disposable coffee and water cups available to staff members? If you visit the water cooler or coffee maker 4 or 5 times a day and use another cup every time (a cup that eventually finds its way to the trash can and landfill) then you can imagine how that adds up in a large office. Encourage staff members to have a reusable coffee or water cup.

A drinking fountain or water cooler service wastes less plastic than individual serving water bottles. And what about the coffee maker? Remember those individual “cup” type coffee makers might be convenient, but they also create a lot of waste.

Break rooms that make it easy for staff members to bring their lunch (offering a refrigerator, microwave, etc.) encourage that practice rather than staff members leaving for fast food every day. Think of the miles and fuel saved commuting and the fumes reduced when people are not idling in the drive-thru lane!

Take a look around the break room to identify potential ways to eliminate waste and to encourage environmentally conscious practices among your employees.

Recycle!

Make it easier for people in the office to recycle than to not recycle. What that means is to position convenient, clearly marked recycling containers for paper, plastic, and even organic waste that could be used in compost!

Create a Culture of Environmental Responsibility

Make it easy for team members to participate in these environmentally conscious practices and commend conservative behavior in the office. Encourage your associates to identify waste in the office and to come up with their own ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Choose Vendors Who Share Your Commitment to the Environment

When possible, patronize businesses and vendors who also promote environmentally conscious business practices. Ask for electronic billing and to not receive excess paper mail. If your business needs lawn, landscape, or snow removal services, CONTACT LANDSCAPE SOLUTIONS for a custom quote. You will not find a company in this industry who is more committed to providing excellent service with minimal negative impact on the environment.

Together, we can make a difference!
